Values

About us

Our goal is to provide environments where you can belong, whether you are a follower of Jesus or not. Our hope is that whatever environment you visit, you will find there people who will love you, accept you and help you belong.

Being a church, we have gatherings on Sundays. But just as important, we have small groups in and through which most of the growth and care takes place, and we also have opportunities to go into our community and serve it for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

Join us; we're just ordinary people like you.

Our Core Beliefs

We believe…In God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit – one God

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and we accept its authority in matters of faith and practice

In the true humanity and deity of Jesus

In the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit who guides, indwells, sanctifies and empowers believers

In the atonement made by the Lord Jesus on the cross for the sin of the world

That Jesus Christ is the risen Saviour.  Jesus rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father

That salvation comes only through repentance towards God and faith in Jesus

That baptism of believers by immersion is the scriptural form of baptism, and is the appropriate biblical expression of faith in Jesus

OUR MISSION:  To produce committed & passionate followers of Jesus

OUR VISION:  To be a small group-based church; a family of ‘House Churches’ in which Christ is central, relationships are foundational, participation is encouraged, and mission is a priority.

OUR CORE VALUES: A Commitment to Healthy Relationships – We believe being a Christian means belonging to a family, rather than to a religious institution.  Church isn’t a building or a set of programmes.  It isn’t something we do or attend.  The church is us – people in relationship – and we need each other.  To be committed to a church is to be committed to a family.

Small Groups are the Heartbeat of Church Life – We are committed to small groups that are ‘self-contained’ by nature.  Rather than being special interest groups that concentrate on one specific task (eg. Bible study), our small groups are ‘basic Christian communities’ – the core unit of church life.

Every Believer is a Minister – We believe ministry is everyone’s role – that all of God’s children are called and gifted to minister.  We all have a part to play.  We believe it’s essential for every believer at WBBC to discover and use their gifts in church life.  For us, church is not a spectator sport!

The Church Exists for those Outside Itself – We believe the church is God’s chosen vehicle for communicating His love to the world – that we really do exist for those outside the church.

Therefore we believe that relationships characterised by love, commitment, vulnerability, accountability and practical support are absolutely foundational in God’s plan for church life.  Healthy relationships provide the climate for healthy spiritual growth and for a healthy and credible witness to the world.
